A drama based on the experiences of Kathryn Bolkovac, a Nebraska police who served as peacekeepers in post-war Bosnia and the UN to cover exposed a scandal. Nspire facts, Kathy (Rachel Weisz) is an American police officer who takes a job as a peacekeeping force in Bosnia after the war. Expectations to help rebuild a devastated country are destroyed when he discovers a dangerous reality of corruption, secrecy and intrigue amidst a world of private entrepreneurs and multinational diplomatic doublespeak.
The previous reviewer apparently did not know that it is a true story. The victims were fictitious specific, but the overall story of what happens and what Rachel Wiesz character went through are true. They are not an artificial or "generic" "CSI" story.
That said, the film offers a telling Whistleblower difficultand this important event. Some scenes were difficult to see, but as the director referred to in Q & A after the screening I saw, was just scratching the surface of what was happening. Character of Vanessa Redgrave, although his scenes were relatively short, really shone. I appreciated the law was not associated with any film patterns and the music too dramatically. Director Anna impact of the story itself, and Rachel Wiesz great acting, to make a movie.
